Story — The Fall of the Stormwall

Three hundred years ago the Stormwall — a ring of storm-engines that kept the sky calm — shattered. The land below vanished under endless cloud. What remained were the floating cities, lifted on aether crystals, drifting on the storm. Each city learned to wall itself in, to raise a shielded core, and to answer every cannon with two. They call these fortresses skyholds.

The Broken Cloudsea

  1. Stage 1 — Commander, the lanes beyond the Broken Cloudsea are closed. Build, seal, and show the wardens we can hold a skyhold.
  2. Stage 2 — A marksman crew camps on the next islet. They aim for guns — keep flak near your core.
  3. Stage 3 — Halvek: "A hundred captains tried my walls. The storm kept every one."

Ember Reach

  1. Stage 4 — Ember Reach. The air itself is hot enough to bend a shell. Lightning hunts the careless.
  2. Stage 5 — Tricksters drop mortars where you least expect. Double your walls.
  3. Stage 6 — Pyra Voss: "You built a fortress? I build volcanoes."

Verdant Drift

  1. Stage 7 — In the Verdant Drift, walls grow back. Break them faster than they bloom.
  2. Stage 8 — Gardener marksmen hide in the canopy. Strong winds today.
  3. Stage 9 — Elder Myrrh: "Every wall you break, the garden remembers."

Gloam Maelstrom

  1. Stage 10 — The Gloam. The storm is alive here — and it is listening.
  2. Stage 11 — Frost Spire sharpshooters guard the last lane to the eye.
  3. Stage 12 — The Sovereign: "I broke the sky once. Your little wall is next."

Epilogue

The storm quiets. For the first time in a generation, the lanes of the Cloudsea are open. Your skyhold stands.

Aether cores

A skyhold's heart is an aether core. Fully enclosed by walls, it projects a shield no shell can pierce. Open a single gap and the shield collapses. Every battle in the Cloudsea is a race to break that ring — and to close your own.
